Federated Wireless is the prime contractor for a private 5G network serving Marine Corps Logistics Command warehouses at Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany, Georgia, built with JMA Wireless radios and a Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) 5G core.[1][2] Federated Wireless says the Department of Defense chose Albany for a smart-warehouse pilot because fiber was costly to install and Wi-Fi underperformed there, and awarded the company a $16.2 million contract through the National Spectrum Consortium to design and build the network.[3] The network went live in November 2024 across about one million square feet in three warehouse buildings, using CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) General Authorized Access spectrum, the company's CEO told Inside Towers.[2] In March 2026 the Marine Corps announced an Authority to Operate (ATO) for the network, calling it the first fully on-premises private 5G deployment of its kind in the Department of War.[4]
As reported by the sources below; not independently verified.
