Overview

Comcast Business announced on August 6, 2026 that it had deployed a private wireless network at the headquarters of Smartlink, a company that designs, builds and maintains wireless infrastructure for carriers and tower companies, in downtown Annapolis, Maryland.[1] The managed system pairs neutral host cellular coverage for occupants on any carrier, delivered through a Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) gateway, with a dedicated CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) private network on a cloud-based 4G/5G core, and Comcast says it replaces a traditional distributed antenna system (DAS).[1] A Comcast executive told Lightwave that the CBRS spectrum at Smartlink is split, with one slice for carrier traffic and another reserved for the company's own operations.[2]
