Overview

On May 25, 2021, Samsung announced a collaboration with OPTAGE Inc., a Japanese service provider, to build a dedicated private 5G network and a real-time video monitoring system at a plant facility in Japan.[1] The network was to carry 4K live video from cameras and other devices around the plant to a remote maintenance system, so staff could inspect the site from a control center instead of sending technicians to hard-to-reach locations.[1] Samsung's release does not name the plant or its owner; RCR Wireless described it as Optage's plant facility.[1][2] We found no later public report on whether the network was completed.
