Overview

Communication Technology Services (CTS) is a family-owned wireless infrastructure and managed services company, founded in 1990 and based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, that builds DAS (distributed antenna systems), Wi-Fi and private cellular networks for enterprises and mobile network operators.[1][2] It designs, deploys and manages private LTE and private 5G networks using CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service), licensed carrier spectrum and neutral-host architectures, and can deliver them as a managed Network-as-a-Service for a recurring fee.[3] Its published U.S. projects include a CBRS private LTE network at Tulsa International Airport and a 2022 private LTE trial at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.[4][5]

Private network offering
Assessment, RF design, deployment and managed operations of private LTE and private 5G networks through its network operations center, with a Network-as-a-Service option.[3] CTS says it is vendor- and architecture-neutral and selects equipment for each deployment.[3]
Spectrum
CBRS General Authorized Access (GAA) and Priority Access License (PAL), licensed carrier spectrum, and Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) neutral host over CBRS, which CTS notes is currently LTE only.[3]
Sales channel
Sold to enterprises and mobile network operators.[1] Public agencies can buy CTS private cellular networks through a Sourcewell cooperative purchasing contract in the Private Wireless Services with Related Solutions category, announced June 11, 2024.[7]
Certifications
SOC 2 Type 2 compliance for its managed services platform, from an independent audit by Alchemi Advisory Group announced November 30, 2022.[8] CTS won the OnGo Alliance's 2022 Neutral Host Architecture/Solution Award[6] and says it also received the 2023 OnGo Device Innovation Award.[3]

Product lines

  • Private Cellular Networksservices

Private LTE and private 5G design, deployment and management. CTS says private LTE over CBRS is often the practical starting point, with 5G standalone where the use case and devices justify it, and cites an unnamed semiconductor fab where it delivered 5G standalone over CBRS.[3]

  • Private cellular Network-as-a-Serviceservices

CTS designs, deploys, operates and supports the network for a recurring fee instead of a capital purchase.[3] The 2022 Minneapolis-St. Paul trial used a turnkey managed private LTE Network-as-a-Service.[5]

  • Total Traffic Managersoftware

CTS's own traffic monitoring and policy tool, which CTS said in July 2021 it would combine with Druid Software's Raemis core to allocate network resources by user group, application or protocol.[10]

  • DAS, Wi-Fi and Forte Neutral Sourceservices

CTS also builds DAS and small cells, public safety DAS, Wi-Fi and optical LAN systems,[1] and sells Forte Neutral Source, a managed multi-carrier signal source for enterprise DAS that supports AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.[11]

Reported deployments

  • Tulsa International Airport private LTE

A private LTE network on CBRS spectrum for the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust, announced July 8, 2025, covering the airfield and replacing fiber and Wi-Fi links for badging and camera systems at perimeter entry gates; CTS says it covers airside and landside areas and that it continues to support the network.[4][9]

  • Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport trial

A turnkey managed private LTE Network-as-a-Service on CBRS for the Metropolitan Airports Commission, tested in lab and production settings with six applications including CCTV, digital signage and shared passenger-processing carts; CTS announced its completion on October 26, 2022.[5]

  • Healthcare medical office building neutral host

A CBRS neutral host network for an unnamed healthcare provider, built with Airspan and Druid, that also carries a private network for back-office systems; it won the OnGo Alliance's 2022 Neutral Host Architecture/Solution Award.[6]
