Overview

Ericsson Private 5G is Ericsson's full-stack private cellular product for enterprises, combining Ericsson radios and basebands, an on-premises controller with a dual-mode 4G/5G core, and a cloud-based Network Management Portal (NMP).[1] Ericsson describes it as built to cover large indoor and outdoor areas for industrial sites such as manufacturing, mining, ports, energy utilities and airports.[1][2] Ericsson says sensitive data stays on site while management runs from the cloud, and that certified Ericsson Private 5G specialists manage end-user sites through the NMP.[2][1]

Specifications

Components

Radio access network
Ericsson basebands, indoor radio units and a range of radios from Radio Dots for indoor coverage to Macro Radios for large outdoor areas.[1]
Controller
Two controllers per site, hosting the dual-mode 4G/5G core, VPN, logging and data collection, domain proxy, SIM manager and lifecycle management.[1]
Controller redundancy
The two controllers act as redundant servers; session continuity allows failover between them after a hardware or software failure.[3]
Management
Network Management Portal, a cloud-based system for configuring controllers, basebands and radios, provisioning devices and SIMs, role-based access and analytics.[4]
SIM management
SIM manager on the controller authenticates SIM cards on the network; SIM management is also handled in the NMP.[3][4]

Core and technology

Core architecture
Dual-mode core that runs 4G and 5G at the same time; for 5G it supports both non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) modes.[3]
Core location
On premises, on the site controllers; the controllers need connections to the site's wired network and to the internet.[3]
Multisite
Ericsson says one core can serve distributed sites.[3]
VPN
AES-256 encryption with a public-key infrastructure.[3]
Spectrum
Ericsson cites global spectrum support across its radio range; a specific U.S. band list for this product is not published on the product page.[1]
SAS (Spectrum Access System) arrangement
The controller includes a domain proxy for communicating with a SAS; the SAS provider is not publicly stated.[1]

Sizing and capacity

Deployment sizes
Ericsson offers small, medium, large and extra-large deployment sizes.[2]
Not publicly stated
Coverage, device and throughput capacity

Management and integration

Integrations
Open APIs for IT and OT systems; the NMP integrates with syslog platforms, identity management systems and Active Directory.[2][4]
Analytics
NMP dashboards show uplink and downlink speeds, latency and data use per SIM card.[4]
Offline management
Organizations can license a local management portal to keep managing the network during a WAN outage.[4]

Commercial terms

Advanced Management
Optional add-on subscription that sends fault and performance data to third-party platforms and adds detailed device diagnostics.[4]
Not publicly stated
Base subscription and support terms

Public pricing

  • Ericsson sells Advanced Management as an add-on subscription (described June 27, 2025); no list prices are published.[4]
